Van Nistelrooy doesn't get it

Ruud van Nistelrooy is very surprised at the fact that Real Madrid teammate Raul be out of the Spanish national soccer team.

"I don’t know what’s going on with Raul, and I think I’m not the only one. The same happened last year. Sometimes a coach, after making a certain decision, can realize he was wrong, but he doesn’t recognize it", Ruud van Nistelrooy said about Spain coach Luis Aragones.

"Raul scored 18 goals this season, this is something true. Definitely, he’s one of the best players in Spain. But the coach has made a decision and he can’t change his mind", the Dutch player added.

As for the upcoming Euro 2008, van Nistelrooy didn’t refer to the possibilities of a clash between Spain and the Netherlands in quarterfinals despite the "Orange Mechanics" have tough rivals to face in the round-robin stage.

"I wish we can move into quarterfinals, but we have fierce rivals like France, Italy and Romania. We are not thinking about moving into such a stage right now", van Nistelrooy remarked.

Regarding the controversial ankle injury which prevented him from playing the most important games in the Liga, he said. "I got injured while playing against Almeria. I underwent a hard, long treatment and took strong medicines. This situation prevented me from practicing properly, so the team backed me when I decided to undergo surgery".
