Luhukay fired at Mönchengladbach
Monday 06 October 2008
After only seven rounds in the
German Bundesliga
Jos Luhukay
has been fired as coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Sports Director Christian Ziege
will temporarily perform Luhukay's duties.
"After much debate yesterday
and today we have come to the conclusion that we shall
continue without Luhukay," chairman Rolf Königs
explained.
"Luhukay was our coach when
we got promoted and he deserves our gratitude and respect.
We highly value him both as a person and a professional,
but despite that the current situation demands he leaves."
On Saturday Gladbach lost 2-1 at
home to 1. FC Köln.
It was the fourth defeat in a row
and the sixth of the season.
Luhukay wasn't only blamed for
the disappointing results.
His frequent changes - he used
23 players during the first seven games - and defensive
tactics didn't go down well with some players like skipper
Oliver Neuville.
