Patrick Paauwe: "Highest level takes
getting used to"
Monday 18 August 2008
After a year in the anonymity of
the Second Bundesliga, Patrick Paauwe is back at the
highest level.
With newly promoted Borussia Monchengladbach
the former Feyenoord-player and Holland-international
he hopes to stay alive in the Bundesliga this season.
Since yesterday Paauwe knows that
that will not be easy, because his team lost the first
match, at home against VfB Stuttgart: 1-3.
After a season at the lower level
Paauwe said that the topflight takes getting used to:
"The pace is a lot higher than in the Second Bundesliga
and I think we made it a bit too easy for our opponents.
Still, it's positive that we created a lot of chances
and in the second half we able to improve compared with
the first. A petty we only scored one. A second would
have meant 2-3 and who knows what might have happened."
Paauwe wasn't the only Dutch starter
for Gladbach.
Dutch coach Jos Luhukay also fielded
ex-Roda JC player Roel Brouwers from the start.
