Dutch duo go top in Bundesliga
Sunday 31 August 2008
The Dutch coaches in the German
Bundesliga did well this weekend.
All three (
Martin
Jol
at Hamburg,
Fred Rutten
at Schalke 04 and
Jos Luhukay
at Borussia Mönchengladbach) won with their teams
and Dutch duo Jol and Rutten now find themselves top
of the table with 7 points from 3 games.
For Luhukay's Gladbach it was the
first win after two defeats.
Jol and Hamburg went behind twice
in Bielefeld, but in the end secured a fine 2-4 win
over Arminia.
Joris Mathijsen and Nigel de Jong
played the full 90 minutes.
Fred Rutten and Schalke 04 were
recovering from the 4-0 defeat by Atletico Madrid on
Wednesday and put on a lackluster display against unfashionable
Bochum.
Heiko Westermann scored the only
goal of the game in the 36th minute.
Schalke were still without the
injured Orlando Engelaar.
Newly promoted Borussia Mönchengladbach
of Dutch coach Jos Luhukay and Dutch players Patrick
Paauwe and Roel Brouwers had a great game against title
contenders Werder Bremen.
They took a deserved 3-0 lead and
seemed to cruise to an easy win.
But the team from Bremen gave the
home crowd a fine scare by pulling back two in the last
ten minutes.
They didn't manage the equalizer
though which meant Gladbach first win of the new season.
Mark van Bommel and Bayern Munich
play their third game this afternoon (17h00 CET) at
home against Hertha BSC.
