Hamburg eyeing super-trio to end poor
scoring record
Friday 08 August 2008
One of the reason's HSV Hamburg
were unable to really compete for the Bundesliga last
season was their lack of goals.
New manager Martin Jol now wants
the money received for Rafael van der Vaart used to
sort out that problem.
German tabloid Bild say that three
player's are on the Germans' wish list: Jan Vennegoor
of Hesselink, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Roman Pavlyuchenko.
"We need a new striker,"
said Hamburg manager Martin Jol.
"We are looking for an experienced
player who can help us progress straight away."
The two Dutchmen are said to be
higher on the list than the Russian, as he failed to
impress when a Hamburg-delegation went to scout him
in a Russian league game recently.
It is said that the Germans have
already asked after Vennegoor's price tag, but the player
himself has indicated not to be interested in a move
away from Celtic.
It is unclear whether Huntelaar
is interested, but the problem with him coming to Hamburg
could be the transfer fee, as Huntelaar still has a
few years on his current contract.
