Nigel de Jong close to fitness
Tuesday 11 November 2008
Hamburg coach Martin Jol is hoping
to welcome back his holding midfielder Nigel de Jong
for Saturday's (15h30) game at Hertha Berlin.
De Jong has been out for months
with a knee injury.
He appeared match fit during his
team's training sessions of recent days, but Jol wasn't
conclusive whether he will actually add De Jong to his
squad for Saturday's game.
"When Nigel shows me in training
that he's ready he might play," Jol said.
De Jong who put in some extra fitness
sessions by himself on Monday says he's feeling well.
"It's still a few days until
the Berlin game, so perhaps I'll make it," De Jong
says.
"Berlin are in good shape
and Voronin has proved to be a real reinforcement for
them. It will be an exciting game. It would be nice
for once to not even out our home victories with an
away defeat."
