Hamburg turn down first Real-bid for Rafael
van der Vaart
Thursday 24 July 2008
Real Madrid have officially contacted
HSV Hamburg in a bid to take over Rafael van der Vaart,
but the German club resolutely turned down the offer.
"That offer is not worth talking
about," Technical Director Dietmar Beiersdorfer
said on the club's web site.
"We have turned down the offer
by return."
According to Beiersdorfer Real
Madrid replied via fax that for them the matter was
closed for the Royals.
Bayersdorfer did not disclose how
high the Spanish offer was.
According to Welt-Online
the offer was €6 million.
The Spanish champions would not
want to pay more because Van der Vaart will only cost
a fraction of that amount next summer.
However the German club think that
this was not the last they have heard from the Spaniards.
In ten days time the two clubs
will play each other in the Emirates Cup in London.
