but in 2009!"

Rafael van der Vaart has spoken
out about his future. The Hamburg-captain today told
German daily Die Welt that he will stay in Hamburg for
one more season.
After that season Van der Vaart
wishes to move to a European top side.
"Then it's time to take my
career to the next level. I want to make my dream come
true and that is to play for real big European side.
I have always been frank bout that."
He denies the news that he has
already signed a pre-contract in Madrid.
"That's not true at all,"
he says furiously.
"But when you ask me whether
I want to play for Madrid in the future I say 'of course'.
Who wouldn't? At the moment it's just not on. I shall
play for Hamburg this season."
That means new Hamburg-coach Martin
Jol can use the former Ajax-talent another year.
Van der Vaart is positive about
the man from The Hague.
"You can see he has experience.
He always stays calm when things are not going as planned.
He talks a lot and shows us where there's room for improvement.
He has a lot in common with Huub Stevens."
The club's management expects the
team to compete for the championship this season, it
says in a number of German football magazines.
Van der Vaart pays it no mind.
"It's hard to say whether
that is possible. You always want to be champions. Fact
is we do have a team that can achieve something, but
the competition are very strong as well."
