Rene Eijkelkamp joins Schalke camp

Eijkelkamp
will join Schalke 04 this season as a part-time coach,
the German club announced Wednesday.
Eijkelkamp will thus join coach
Fred Rutten and midfielder Orlando Engelaar in Gelsenkirchen.
"Eijkelkamp will train with
selected players one day a week," manager Andreas
Müller explained.
Eijkelkamp is a former player of
Schalke and FC Twente, just like Rutten's other assistant
at Schalke, Dutchman Youri Mulder.
He was the right hand of Rutten
at FC Twente until last summer, when he started to manage
players together with his brother.
"I know from experience that
René can actually make players better,"
said Rutten.
Rutten and Eijkelkamp worked together
at PSV between 2004 and 2006 as assistants to Guus Hiddink.
