Ajax unable to beat Championship side

Ajax were unable last night to
beat Championship side Cardiff City, the team of Dutch
defender Glenn Loovens.
The match in which former Barcelona-defender
Oleguer Presas made his debut ended in a goalless draw.
Ajax' other big summer signing,
Miralem Sulejmani, was not on the sheet.
Marco van Basten was positive about
the game afterwards: "We created some chances,
but we just didn't score. They were very strong physically
and they have been preparing a bit longer than we have."
The former Holland boss was especially
happy about his new defense: "In the end we can
be happy about that. Defensively we looked well. It
looked safe and you see them grow week by week. This
is how we must take on Sunderland. The boys are doing
well."
