KNVB to start investigation into Klaas-Jan
Huntelaar
Tuesday 23 September 2008
Klaas Jan Huntelaar will have to
fear for a possible suspension.
The prosecutor of the professional
section of the Dutch FA (KNVB) has started an investigation
into the statements of the Ajax-forward after Sunday's
game against Feyenoord in Rotterdam.
Huntelaar expressed some venomous
criticism
on referee Eric Braamhaar and Dutch refereeing in general.
"It's becoming a nuisance.
There's no consistency at all. Which referee I do like?
Well, Luinge is consistent and Jol was as well. But
the two of them are not allowed to lead top matches
any longer, I believe. Anyway, I should shut my mouth,
otherwise I might even get a suspension."
Huntelaar's last sentence turns
out to be prophetic, as the prosecutor of the KNVB was
not amused by the forwards statements.
It is unsure whether the FA will
suspend the player.
Last season the then Heerenveen
Gertjan Verbeek was sentenced to a 500 euro fine and
a conditional two game suspension for stating similar
things.
