Ajax soon without forwards?
Friday 26 September 2008
The prosecutor of the Dutch FA
- KNVB - will start an investigation into a presumed
foul Luis Suarez made during Thursday night's cup tie
against FC Utrecht.
The Uruguayan forward kicked FC
Utrecht-player Loïc Loval in the stomach on purpose
after five minutes into the game.
The referee missed the incident
as Loval was in-between him and Suarez, and because
Suarez pretended to be losing his balance when he kicked
the Utrecht player.
The fact that the referee didn't
caution Suarez during the game gives the prosecutor
a chance to investigate the incident.
TV-footage left little room for
doubt about Suarez' intentions.
All parties involved have one week
to hand in a statement to the KNVB.
With Miralem Sulejmani out for
eight weeks with an injury
and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar facing a possible suspension
for his remarks
about Dutch referees, there is a possibility that coach
Marco van Basten will have to do without his entire
forward line for while.
Earlier today it was also reported
that defender Oleguer faces a possible two year jail
sentence for throwing a stone at a policeman.
