Perez and Luque dropped from first squad
Monday 04 August 2008
Kenneth Perez and Albert Luque
have not survived the first filtering at Ajax Amsterdam.
Marco van Basten had an unpleasant
announcement for a few players.
The new Ajax-coach indicated earlier
on in the pre-season that he wanted to decrease the
number of players on the first squad to 24.
Perez and Luque , Jurgen Colin
and Laurent Delorge are the first four victims of this.
They will train and play with Ajax'
second team made up of mainly youngsters.
"We've been at it for three
weeks now and all players have had a chance," Van
Basten explains on Ajax' website.
"In some cases that led to
new ideas. And that is why we cleared up certain things
with the players."
Four other players are expected
to not make the cut.
Kennedy Bakircioglu, Leonardo,
George Ogararu and Dennis Rommedahl remain with the
A-squad for now, but have been told to reckon with a
place in the stands.
"The transfer window closes
at the end of the month. We expect to see things move
around our players. We want to work with a squad of
about 24 players."
