Sore Gregoor van Dijk: "Unfortunate
draw, just like last year"

FC Utrecht have been cupfighters
for years but now for the second consecutive year they
did not get beyond the second round.
That is not so much due to the
club's own performances, but to a large extend to Lady
Fortune.
Fate last year paired Utrecht to
Feyenoord and this year they were handed a visit to
the Amsterdam Arena.
After an away match last year the
team of coach Wim van Hanegem this time around started
their Cup campaign with an away match to Ajax .
Ajax won deservedly after a match
full of missed chances.
"Sadly we never got to playing
football," captain Gregoor van Dijk told FC
Update.
The midfielder who had to play
center back yesterday because of the absence of Alje
Schut and Sander Keller, regrets the fact that their
Cup adventure is already over.
"Because the KNVB Cup is the
greatest thing for a club such as FC Utrecht."
"It's hard to swallow to -
like last year - go out at such an early stage. Is it
a shame that two Eredivisie sides meet so early in the
tournament? Not at all. For us it's just sad that we
get such unfortunate draws to years in a row, but that
is also one of the charms of cup football. Things like
that can happen. Just like it can happen, like Roda
JC last season, that you're a bit lucky and end up in
the final. It's all part of the game."
