Arsene Wenger: "Twente played with
a lot of conviction"
Thursday, 14 August 2008
Arsène Wenger was full of
admiration about the play of FC Twente in Wednesday
night's Champions League qualifier against his Arsenal
(0-2).
The English did win the game, but
FC Twente were on top for most of the first hour of
the game.
"They followed us all over
the pitch, and we were one on one constantly. They played
with a lot of conviction and gave us a hrad time. In
the end our technical superiority made the difference,"
Wenger thought.
The Frenchman missed a number of
his big stars, but didn't scare away from starting his
youngsters Aaron Ramsey (17) and Denilson (20).
"Fortunately they kept calm.
This will only make the groiup stronger. With these
young guys I have a lot more options."
