Steve McClaren: "We only failed at
finishing"
Thursday, 14 August 2008
Inexperience in European games
was what ruined the day for FC Twente, Steve McClaren
thought after the undeserved 0-2 loss against English
giants Arsenal.
FC Twente gave the Londoners a
serious scare during the first 60 minutes of the game,
as Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted.
The Tukkers had some decent
chances, but in the end had to watch how Arsenal clinically
finished the game with the few chances they had.
"We only failed at finishing,"
McClaren said.
"This game illustrates our
European inexperience and that is why we lost."
FC Twente now face the virtually
impossible task of scoring three goals in London to
qualify for the Champions League.
"That will be a hell of a
job. But most of all I hope we will play well again.
We want to get better. If we do, results in games like
these will follow."
