Verbeek: "I'm not worried"
Monday 29 September 2008
Gertjan Verbeek is having a good
time as coach of Feyenoord.
The bad start to the new season
(4 points from 4 matches) doesn't change anything about
the way he feels, he said on Sunday after his team lost
3-1 at FC Groningen.
"No, I'm not worried. Why
should I be? It doesn't do you any good. Winning and
losing is part of the job of a coach. I came to Feyenoord
to win prizes. Than it is of course disappointing when
you drop points right at the beginning."
But according to Verbeek there
are plenty of chances to make up for the lost terrain.
"Last season at Heerenveen
we took three points from the first six matches. We
still finished on fifth spot. So four in four isn't
all that bad. I will not let the outside world wind
me up. They can, write, say or think as they please.
Only I will put pressure on myself."
Verbeek then got philosophical:
"When I let the pressure lead me, I can not have
a good life. And life is so good as coach of Feyenoord."
