Zuiverloon on his way to WBA
Wednesday 02 July 2008
Heerenveen-defender Gianni Zuiverloon
will leave for England.
The 21-year-old is about to sign
a three-year-contract with newly promoted West Bromwich
Albion.
The English first flight club is
said to pay four million Euro for the youngster.
Zuiverloon's contract with Heerenveen
continued until 2010.
Zuiverloon was a member of the
Dutch U-23 team that won the European Championships
in 2007.
After spending his youth at Feyenoord
where Ruud Gullit gave him a chance as full back, Zuiverloon
moved to unfashionable RKC Waalwijk (also the former
club of Martin Jol) for one season before moving to
Heerenveen at the start of the 2006/2007 campaign.
In four seasons at the highest
level in Holland Zuiverloon played 88 matches in which
he scored 4 goals.
Originally a midfielder he is regarded
as a stylish and skillful defender who has dramatically
improved his physical strength over the past twelve
months.
