Feyenoord continue sad series
Feyenoord have added another chapter to a very sad series.
The 3-1 loss at the hands of FC
Groningen on Sunday was the fifth consecutive league
defeat in an away match.
On top it was also the fifth time
that Feyenoord conceded three goals - a unique feat
in the club's history.
The sad series was started at the
end of last season.
Feyenoord successively lost to
Sparta (3-2), NAC Breda (3-1), Willem II (3-1), Heracles
Almelo (3-1) and now FC Groningen (3-1).
The longest series of defeats in
away games dates back to 1978, when Feyenoord lost eight
times in a row.

Ron Jans: "This Groningen is not my best team
ever "
After four rounds FC Groningen-coach Ron Jans has few
reasons to complain.
Led by Marcus Berg, Andreas Granqvist and Luciano da
Silva FC Groningen are top of the table.
Still coach Jans does not think
this is the strongest team he ever coached.
"That would have been the team I had six months
ago, with Bruno Silva, Rasmus Lindgren and Erik Nevland
still there," Jans thinks.
"This team also has a lot of quality, but we've
only played four games. Time will tell just how good
this team is."

Hofland got a red card on Sunday
10 minutes into the game when he brought down Marcus
Berg of FC Groningen.

Cvitanich upset after game with
reserves
Dario Cvitanich was all upset when he had to play a
game with Ajax' reserves.
"He was totally upset and played very bad. Afterwards
I understood why," Marco van Basten explained.
"In Argentina it means that
you're removed from the first team when you have to
play with the reserves. That of course is nit the case
here. Fortunately I was able to explain that to him."

Boussaboun "very disappointed" with ADO-fans
Ali Boussaboun didn't receive a warm welcome in Den
Haag when he came on as a substitute for his new club
FC Utrecht.
The Moroccan former forward of ADO Den Haag was jeered
throughout his game and among other things he was called
a scooter thief.
"I really don't understand
why they call me that," said Boussaboun, who played
for ADO between 1992 and 2001
"Nine years I gave my best for this club. I am
very disappointed with these fans."
The match ADO Den Haag-FC Utrecht ended in 0-0.

Ajax player Gabri look back on a fine return in the
Ajax jersey.
The Spanish midfielder played for an hour with Ajax'
reserves on Monday in a league game against the reserves
of FC Twente.
Gabri scored once in a game Ajax won 3-4.
The Spaniard could make his return to Ajax' first team
when they play Serbian FK Borac on Thursday in the second
leg of the UEFA Cup first round.

El Ahmadi plays with Feyenoord reserves
Karim el Ahmadi seems almost ready for his return to
Feyenoord's first team.
The Moroccan midfielder seems fully recovered from
groin surgery he underwent this summer and played one
half with Feyenoord's reserves yesterday.
However it is unclear whether he
can play with Feyenoord when they face Kalmar
FF on Thursday in the UEFA Cup.
"That is unclear at the moment.
He came through the game without any problems, but we'll
have to wait and see how he reacts to it," said
Alex Pastoor, coach of the Feyenoord reserves.
