Huntelaar: "Refereeing is becoming
a nuisance"
Sunday 21 September 2008
Klaas Jan Huntelaar was surprisingly
harsh in his comments on referee Eric Braamhaar after
today's Classic:
"He influenced the game. The refereeing Holland
is really becoming a nuisance," the forward told
FC
Update.nl.
Huntelaar referred to the moment
in the first half when Feyenoord keeper Henk Timmer
brought down Leonardo on his way to the goal and only
got a yellow card when Leonardo would have had a clear
path to the goal and also to the questionable penalty
Feyenoord got close to the end of the game and from
which they equalized.
About the Leonardo-Timmer incident
Huntelaar said: "That is simply a red card, but
he didn't have the guts. As an explanation he said that
there were other defenders there. Well, these defenders
were only there to take the ball out of the net, as
they would have never caught Leonardo."
The lightly given penalty for the
assumed foul on Michael Mols, angered Huntelaar.
"He does give a penalty for
that, but on the other side Suarez and I should also
have gotten a penalty. The referee simply wasn't consistent,"
said the forward who's fed up with the Dutch referees.
"It's becoming a nuisance.
There's no consistency at all. Which referee I do like?
Well, Luinge is consistent and Jol was as well. But
the two of them are not allowed to lead top matches
any longer, I believe. Anyway, I should shut my mouth,
otherwise I might even get a suspension."
Huntelaar finished by saying that
the draw was due to the poor referee: "We simply
didn't play well."
