Heerenveen hammer sad Ajax
Sunday 05 October 2008
SC Heerenveen have again
given Ajax a serious battering.
In a very rainy Abe Lenstra Stadion
Ajax were fortunate to only concede five.
Especially in the first half the
Friesians were all mighty.
Okay, Ajax had more possession,
but Heerenveen had all the chances.
The hosts were much more aggressive
and that paid off within 10 minutes.
In the fourth minute Ajax defender
Silva tried to beat Gerald Sibon to a lose ball only
to slide the ball over his own goal line.
Ajax got no chance to recover from
that early blow because in the 8th minute Roy Beerens
wonderfully finished a solo run to make it 2-0.
Young stand-in goal keeper Kenneth
Vermeer then saved his team numerous times to keep Ajax'
hope on some sort of a result alive, but only five minutes
into the second half the defensive line in front of
him were again unable to stop the unchained Friesians.
Sibon was allowed to volley home
a low cross from the left to decide the game and twelve
minutes later Danijel Pranjic upped the score from the
penalty spot.
Ajax briefly seemed to put themselves
back in the match when first Huntelaar scored from a
set piece and Suarez converted a penalty 1 minute later.
But the two goals were enough to
wake Heerenveen up again and with the third penalty
of the game Pranjic put the final result on the scoreboard:
5-2.
That he needed the rebound for
that after Vermeer had stopped his spot kick made no
difference at all.
