Newcastle and PSV balanced at 2-2
Thursday 7 August 2008
Watched by their former coach and
guest-of-honor Sir Bobby Robson PSV kept Premier League-side
Newcastle United at 2-2 in St James Park last
night.
The Magpies had a fantastic start,
despite a number of players missing and had established
a 2-0 lead after only eight minutes.
Steven Taylor headed home the
opener from a corner after three minutes and only five
minutes later Andres Isaksson was beat for a second
time when Danny Guthrie was at the end of a great Newcastle-move.
PSV almost faltered, but they shrugged
off the first scare after half an hour when they got
back in the match via Reimond Manco goal.
The Dutch champions then were the
better side and went looking for an equalizer.
They eventually got it 20 minutes
from the end when Afellay served Nordin Amrabat inside
the box: 2-2.
