Prosecutor thinks referee Van Hulten is
guilty
Tuesday 12 August 2008
Dutch referee Jack van Hulten is
risking a three match suspension.
The prosecutor of the Dutch FA
(KNVB) demands this sanction because he considers it
proven that the referee called PSV-player
Ibrahim
Afellay
a 'vuile tyfushond' (dirty typhoid dog).
The incident
took place during a friendly between
PSV Eindhoven
and
VVV
Venlo
.
After the referee had shown PSV-player
Tommy van der Leegte a yellow card Afellay came asking
for an explanation.
After the match Afellay told a
local radio reporter that Van Hulten had used some foul
language.
The referee denied the accusations.
He said Afellay had become aggressive
and that he had called the player a 'naar typetje' (unpleasant
character).
The prosecutor however is convinced
that Afellay's version of the story is the right one
and he now wants the referee suspended for that reason.
The arbitration committee of the
KNVB will decide in seven days time.
