Huntelaar back on track
Thursday 30 October 2008
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has found the
way to the net again.
The center forward liberated both
himself and his team with two great goals last night
against Heracles (1-3).
It was the first away win for Ajax
this season and thus the first for coach Marco van Basten
in his career as Eredivisie coach.
Ajax only needed some fifteen minutes
to get the season's first.
Huntelaar scored his goals between
the 77th and the 82nd minute and by doing so drove out
the black clouds that had been hanging over the Ajax
players up until that moment.
Heracles had been Ajax' equals
in the first 75 minutes and fully deserved to be at
1-1.
Before the break the hosts had
even been the better team despite Suarez' early goal
that gave Ajax the lead.
After that Heracles took the game
to Ajax and gave the Amsterdammers a lot of work to
do.
It was no surprise that they equalized
after half an hour and that they created some good chances
to take the lead before half-time.
In the second half Van Basten put
on Gabri for the disappointing Leonardo.
It didn't mean Ajax started playing
much better, but they were able to neutralize Heracles'
forward moves a lot better.
The home team were again close
to taking the lead, but just when the home crowd started
to believe an upset was possible Huntelaar turned the
game around with two magnificent goals.
