Almost impossible task for Ajax against
PSV

On Sunday Ajax face PSV in their
own Amsterdam Arena, and where most teams in the Eredivisie
come to the Dutch capitol knowing that defeat is imminent,
PSV arrive knowing that statistically the victory is
theirs already.
Since the Arena was opened in 1996
Ajax and PSV have played twelve league matches against
each other and only once were the Amsterdammers able
to beat the current reigning champions: in February
2004 the score was 2-1 to Ajax.
Of the other 11 games PSV won nine
(!) with twice a draw being the end result.
What is perhaps even more worrisome
for Marco van Basten - especially now that Ajax are
without their center forwards - is the fact that the
two goals scored in 2004 were the last Ajax goals on
their own turf against PSV.
