AZ: Moussa Dembele out for eight weeks
after surgery
Tuesday 18 November 2008
AZ Alkmaar will be without Moussa
Dembele for at least another eight weeks.
Tests in hospital revealed that
surgery was needed.
"This is a big blow for Moussa.
He'll need some time to get over this," Dembele's
manager Patrick Vervoort said on Belgian radio.
Dembele got injured last month
during the warm-up for a World Cup qualification game
between his country Belgium and Spain (1-2).
The forward had been in blistering
shape in the weeks before.
In recent weeks Dembele has been
training, but his painful knee kept bothering him.
An examination by the Belgian specialist
Lieven Maesschalk revealed damage to his meniscus.
At AZ Dembele was first replaced
by Graziano Pelle, but now that he is injured as well
Brazilian Ari has joined Eredivisie topscorer Mounir
el Hamdaoui up front.
