League leaders AZ had a tough night
at home against Roda JC.
The visitors from Limburg dominated
AZ for most of the game but in the end it was AZ taking
the points: 1-0.
AZ had one good chance in the first
half, while Roda tried several times from distance and
should have scored just before the break.
Oper was denied by Romero.
AZ coach Louis van Gaal put on
an extra forward for the second half.
The measure didn't really improve
AZ's performance, but the substitution had a direct
effect on the result.
Moussa Dembélé dropped
back one line because of Pelle being there and it was
from there that he could play the decisive pass to El
Hamdaoui who scored his 17th of the season in the 76th
minute.
After that goal the lead was never
in any danger.
