SC Heerenveen beat Groningen in mad last minutes
Sunday 28 December 2008
In the craziest last minutes of
the weekend Heerenveen beat FC Groningen and add a positive
finish to a mediocre first half of the season.
Heerenveen went into the dying
minutes of the game with a 1-2 lead but saw Groningen
equalize in the 90th minute.
But in the last seconds of added
time the visitors struck again and claimed the three
points.
Groningen coach Ron Jans was furious
at referee Kevin Blom as he thought the man in black
had added way too much time.
Tense times are ahead for both
clubs as they are sure to lose some of their talented
players during the transfer window but at the same time
they are hoping to do some business themselves by signing
new young players.
Both clubs already have money to
spend as the lucrative transfers of Huntelaar, Alves,
Bradley, Zuiverloon, Sulejmani, Luis Suarez and Rasmus
Lindgren gained them plenty of resources, and with a
number of clubs eyeing their strikers Daniel Pranjic
(Heerenveen) and Markus Berg (Groningen) more revenue
might be on the way.
But both clubs will be happy if
none of their star players leave during the coming month
and one or two reinforcements will make sure they have
teams capable of qualifying for Europe again.
