Markus Berg sets new record for FC Groningen
with four goals
Monday 22 December 2008
FC Groningen forward Marcus Berg
has set a new record for his club when he scored four
goals in Groningen's match against Roda JC, which they
won 2-5.
The four goals were a club record.
Now it has happened several times
before that an FC Groningen player scored four in one
game, but Berg's 'quattrick' was the first in a game
of the club in the Eredivisie.
Former FC Groningen forward Peter
Houtman also scored four in a league game, but he did
so when FC Groningen were playing in what is now the
Jupiler League, Holland's second division.
For Berg it was the second time
he scored three or more for FC Groningen.
Earlier in the season he scored
three in a cup tie against HHV Hollandia (3-2).
The Swede's total is now 28 goals
for Groningen with which he equals the tally of former
players Martin Drent and Milko Djurovski.
