FC Twente reject raised bid for Eljero Elia
Tuesday 6 January 2009
FC Twente have also rejected a
second bid by Ajax for their forward Eljero Elia.
Ajax' Director of Football Danny
Blind offered Twente 6.5 million euro for Elia, but
the club from Enschede want double that amount.
Ajax' first bid of 5 million euro
was called 'an insult' by Twente chairman Joop Munsterman
two weeks ago.
The club of Steve McClaren want
to extend Elia's contract and they also want to bind
midfielder Wout Brama to the club for a longer period.
Ajax are also after Twente defender
Robbie Wielaert.
The Amsterdammers want to make
use of clause in Wielaert's contract that states he
can leave the club for limited transfer fee of 3 million
euro.
Twente and Ajax are negotiating
terms.
