Twente take three points against Vitesse
Sunday 18 January 2009
With Theo Bos replacing coach Hans
Westerhof Vitesse Arnhem were hoping to get a good start
to the new year, but FC Twente were unwilling to cooperate:
2-1.
In the first half FC Twente had
little to fear from the visitors from nearby Arnhem,
but sloppy passing when close to goal prevented from
doing anything with their superiority.
Yet they did take the lead in the
19th minute.
Defender Sensoni headed a Kenneth
Perez corner onto his own cross bar, then Blaise N'Kufo
needed two tries to score.
First he hit the post but used
the rebound to score his tenth of the season.
In the second half Twente keeper
showed why he never made it at the top.
Being a great goal keeper he makes
too many mistakes, and he did so again last night.
He got a hand to a weak distant
shot from Sensoni, but the swirling ball still made
it into the net.
Luckily for Boschker his error
wasn't costly as Perez made it 2-1 after some great
show of skill by Eljero Elia.
McClaren's men keep leaders AZ
and Ajax in their sights.
FC Twente - Vitesse 2-1
