FC Twente have no trouble at all
with Willem II
Sunday 21 December 2008
FC Twente had little trouble with
Willem II Tilburg on Sunday: 2-0.
Douglas and Blaise NKufo
scored the goals for the team of Steve McClaren.
The only thing FC Twente did not
do well this afternoon was increasing the score as they
did in their previous home games.
For Willem II the defeat was the
fourth in succession.
FC Twente were sloppy in the early
stages of the game but they firmly took the initiative
after that.
McClaren's men never played great,
but Willem II didn't have much to put against it.
The first chance was for Kenneth
Perez, but his volley hit the side of the net.
Later Marko Arnautovic only had
to tap a Eljero Elia cross into the back of the net
but he aimed straight at the legs of Willem II keeper
Veloso.
After Perez had lashed a free kick
onto the bar defender Douglas opened the score on the
half hour.
After the break Twente remained
the better side with most of the play happening in the
half of the Tricolores, but as Twente refused
to score a second there was always for a lucky point
for Willem II.
But on the hour N'Kufo put an end
to all doubt when he added a second for his team.
Now third, five points behind leaders
AZ, Twente travel to PSV on Saturday.
