Van Hanegem exit
Tuesday 23 December 2008
The cooperation between FC Utrecht
and their coach Willem van Hanegem has been terminated.
"There is no basis for further
cooperation," chairman Jan Willem van Dop said.
Van Hanegem expressed some fierce
criticism on the owner of the club, Frans van Seumeren
after he announced on Sunday to quit as coach at the
end of the season.
He explained his decision in several
media and used language that was unacceptable
to Van Seumeren.
Van Hanegem's assistants Ton du
Chatinier and Henk Vonk will function as caretakers
for the remainder of the season.
Willem van Hanegem is the second
Eredivisie coach to be dismissed.
Earlier on Roda JC fired
their coach Raymond Atteveld because of disappointing
results.
