Biseswar gets Feyenoord a narrow victory over Sparta

After three games without a victory Feyenoord finally managed to win a game.

On top they kept a clean sheet for the first time since 2 November.

At home against Sparta 1 early goal was enough for the three points in a game that looked like an encounter between two youth academies with two handfuls of teenagers on the pitch.

Feyenoord looked nervous again with two youngsters in defense, but Kelvin Leerdam and Norichio Nieveld did what was expected of them.

The fact that the game remained close until the end was due to poor finishing on the side of Feyenoord.

Biseswar opened the score in the 17th minute with a great lob over Sparta keeper Cássio Ramos and the winger remained Feyenoord's most menacing player.

After that both teams had a lot of trouble finding the right pass that would indeed create a chance but in spite of that the hosts should have scored two more.

Roy Makaay fully missed the ball from point blank range shortly before half-time and towards the end of the game Karim El Ahmadi hit the post where he really should have scored.

Feyenoord can start looking up again after the victory now that the gap with the relegation zone now being 5 points.

Sparta remain in the danger zone.
