Feyenoord remain attractive employer
Friday 19 December 2008
Feyenoord may be in a sportive
crisis, the club is still an appealing employer to professional
players in Holland.
No less than 103 of 434 players
who responded to a poll of Dutch magazine Voetbal
International and player unions VVCS and ProProf
would love to play for the club in the future.
Of all teams in the Eredivisie
only Ajax is more popular with 128 respondents naming
that club as their favorite.
Behind Ajax and Feyenoord came
PSV (91 votes), AZ (33) and FC Twente (17).
An explanation for Feyenoord's
popularity lays in the club's fans and the stadium.
According to 176 of the 434 players
responding Feyenoord have the best fans.
A staggering 289 players think
of De Kuip as the greatest Dutch stadium to play in.
That is way ahead of the Amsterdam
Arena (61 votes) and the Philips Stadium of PSV (35).
A complete overview of the poll
can be found in this week's double sized Christmas issue
of the paper version of the magazine.
