De Graafschap withstand Heracles Almelo
Saturday 27 December 2008
In the battle against relegation
De Graafschap gained a valuable point at Heracles Almelo
tonight:
0-0.
The home team had a few good chances
to decide matters before half-time, but especially Bas
Dost squandered a number of good chances.
Despite a long list of injuries
Heracles were the better side and of course the team
had to make up for the 3-1 loss at FC Volendam of last
week.
De Graafschap too had put some
things straight after the battering in Amsterdam (6-0)
a week earlier.
But where the hosts had a handful
of chances, De Graafschap came no further than two halfhearted
long shots that were an easy prey for Heracles goal
keeper Martin Pieckenhagen.
After the break De Graafschap looked
a bit more dangerous and Geert den Ouden should have
scored early on.
In a balanced second half little
happened until Heracles started pushing for a goal in
the last ten minutes of the game.
Jan Wuytens and Darl Douglas both
went close but keeper Erik Heijblok had excellent reflexes
on both occasions.
