Heracles halt Willem II

The rise of Willem II Tilburg in the Eredivisie has been halted by Heracles Almelo as they beat the Tricolores 1-0 last night in Almelo.

Thanks to wins over Roda JC, ADO Den Haag and Groningen Willem II were on the march towards the top of the Eredivisie, but without their topscorer Frank Demouge they were unable to get a goal against a team that gained 1 point from their last five games.

The visitors opted to sit back and wait for a counter and did bring them the biggest chance of the first half, but Mehmet Akgun could not get past Heracles keeper Martin Pieckenhagen.

In the second half Willem II left their trenches a bit more often which resulted in more room on the pitch and more pace to the game.

Heracles had been close to a goal twice before Overtoom scored the only goal in the 67th minute.
