PSV drop points at Roda JC

PSV Eindhoven have started their second half of the season with a draw at Roda JC Kerkrade.

The team of coach Huub Stevens thus started the new year in the same way they ended the last: disappointing.

For Roda it meant the third successive draw, for PSV it was the next away game they couldn't win.

So far the reigning champions have only one twice away from home.

The visitors started well and created a handful of chances.

The best one was for Danko Lazovic, who had rounded the goal keeper but saw his shot blocked on the goal line.

The home team had one chance, but goal keeper Ramos saved Willem Janssen's header from point blank range.

After the break Roda got stronger and Ibrahim Afellay had to clear another Janssen header off the line.

But it was then that PSV opened the score.

Defender Pa Kah played the ball with his hands and Timmy Simons converted the spot kick.

Yet PSV's celebrations didn't last long as Roda equalized within a minute when Janssen's third header on target finally went in.

Roda remained the better game in the last half hour and minutes from the end Anouar Hadouir could have scored the winner, but he aimed too high from only meters from the goal.
