Vitesse defense still a mess
Saturday 06 December 2008
The defense of Vitesse remains
the main subject for their coach Hans Westerhof as his
team gave away three goals at Roda JC which led to a
3-0 defeat.
Since Westerhof was caught
saying he thought his two center backs were' dramatic'
the defense of the team from Arnhem has been in total
dismay.
Tonight Westerhof again put a new
combination at the hear of his defense with Alfred Schreuder
and Frank van der Struijk.
After the first half he replaced
Schreuder for Sébastien Sansoni, and had to see
how the first interference of the Frenchman led to Roda's
second goal.
Sensoni was limping over the pitch
after the goal and even before Westerhof was able to
replace him Anouar Hadouir made it 3-0 unhindered as
Sensoni was unable to mark him.
With Sprockel then replacing Sensoni
the defense remained shaky but luckily for Vitesse Roda
were unable to make much of it.
Up front Vitesse were powerless
and wasn't until the 61st minute before they had their
first chance.
Both teams remain at the bottom
of the table, but judging on tonight's game Roda have
a fair chance of staying clear of the relegation zone
whereas Vitesse - unless Westerhof is able to sort out
his defense - are a serious candidate to go down this
season, .
