Ukraine manager disappointed with Dutch
squad
Wednesday 11 August 2010
Bert van Marwijk's decision to
travel to the Ukraine with a team of second choice players
has not gone down well with Ukraine-manager Myron Markevich.
H found it "very disappointing".
Markevich set he hadn't expected
Van Marwijk to come with a reserve team. "I had
expected him to leave some of the World Cup squad at
home, but now it turns out that all players of the South
Africa squad have stayed home. It's a shame, but it
will not change anything for the way we approach this
game."
Ukraine wasn't present at the South
Africa World Cup, but as one of the hosts for Euro 2012
they are automatically qualified.
The squad:
Michel Vorm (FC Utrecht), Piet Velthuizen (Vitesse),
Vurnon Anita (Ajax), Glenn Loovens (Celtic), Jeffrey
Bruma (Chelsea), Erik Pieters (PSV), Ron Vlaar (Feyenoord),
Dirk Marcellis (AZ), Leroy Fer (Feyenoord), Wout Brama
(FC Twente), Urby Emanuelson (Ajax), Hedwiges Maduro
(Valencia), Theo Janssen (FC Twente), Siem de Jong (Ajax),
Roy Beerens (sc Heerenveen), Jeremain Lens (PSV), Ricky
van Wolfswinkel (FC Utrecht).
