Van Marwijk sticks to some youngsters

Holland manager Bert van Marwijk has named 27 players
for his preliminary squad for the Euro 2012 qualification
games against San Marino and Finland. Among them are
some of the youngsters who played against Ukraine last
week, when only one player of the World Cup team was
present.
Theo Janssen, Siem de Jong, Jeremain Lens, Hedwiges
Maduro and Erik Pieters all seem to have good chances
of establishing themselves on the team. Van Marwijk
is of course thinking ahead and knows some of his players
are over 30 and might lose a yard in the next two to
four years. Chelsea reserve Jefffrey Bruma, who made
his debut last week, isn't in the squad because of a
groin injury.
Van Marwijk said he is still satisfied with the game
against Ukraine. "The youngsters showed they can
maintain themselves in the national team. The fact that
I named them is because of that."
Oranje will start their qualification campaign on
Friday 3 September at 20h45 in Serravalle, where Van
Marwijk's team will take on San Marino in the Olimpico
Serravalle. Four days later on Tuesday 7 September Finland
will be their opponents in De Kuip in Rotterdam, kickoff
at 20h30.
