Van Marwijk names 23 players for San Marino and Finland

Holland manager Bert van Marwijk
has named 23 players for the first Euo 2012 qualification
games against San Marino and Finland. Of the team of
youngsters that played Ukraine earlier this month eight
players have received an invitation: Vurnon Anita (Ajax),
Theo Janssen (FC Twente), Jeremain Lens (PSV), Hedwiges
Maduro (Valencia), Erik Pieters (PSV), Piet Velthuizen
(Hercules Alicante), Ron Vlaar (Feyenoord) and Michel
Vorm (FC Utrecht).
Besides those eight the core of
the team that played at the World Cup will also report
to Noordwijk today: Ibrahim Afellay (PSV), Mark van
Bommel (Bayern Munich ), Khalid Boulahrouz (VfB Stuttgart),
Eljero Elia (HSV), John Heitinga (Everton), Klaas Jan
Huntelaar (AC Milan), Nigel de Jong (Manchester City),
Dirk Kuyt (Liverpool), Joris Mathijsen (HSV), Robin
van Persie (Arsenal), Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax), Rafael
van der Vaart (Real Madrid), Gregory van der Wiel (Ajax)
and Demy de Zeeuw (Ajax).
Wesley Sneijder will arrive on
Tuesday, as he has to play for his club Inter on Monday.
Ryan Babel (Liverpool), Edson Braafheid
(Bayern Munich ) and Stijn Schaars (AZ), who were also
part of the World Cup squad, were not called up by Van
Marwijk.
Arjen Robben is out with an injury
and will be so for the rest of this calendar year.
Holland will start their Euro 2012
qualification campaign on Friday, 3 September in Serravalle,
where they take on San Marino - kickoff at 20h45 CET.
Four days later, on Tuesday 7 September the opponents
are Finland in the Feyenoord Stadium in Rotterdam (20h30
CET).
