Kesler: "Not enough evidence for
a legal case"
Friday 21 November 2008
The Director of Professional Football
of the Dutch FA (KNVB) Henk
Kesler does not intend bring the allegations of
possible match
fixing at the Cup tie between Roda JC and Willem
II before a court of justice.
There had been peculiarly high
bets on a Roda victory in Asia and Roda indeed won the
game
(1-0) after terrible defensive mistakes by a Willem
II player.
But according to Kesler - himself
a lawyer - there is not enough evidence to bring the
case before a court.
"Of course we have analyzed
the game extensively with the experts. Mistakes were
made, but to be honest: mistakes are made every week
in Dutch stadiums. It's too easy to be suspicious at
every instance. But still we have looked into all legal
possibilities but didn't find anything to create a court
case on."
