2008 is record breaking year for Oranje

The Dutch national football team has broken one of it's own records with the 3-1 victory over Sweden on Wednesday as it meant that Holland now have won 11 of their 15 games played in 2008.

Besides the 11 victories there were two draws and two defeats.

The old record dated back to 1974 when Holland won 10 games (of 14 played).

Two of these 14 were also against Sweden: 0-0 at the 1974 World Cup and 1-5 in a friendly in Sweden two months after the tournament.

In 2007 the team of Marco van Basten won 8 of a possible 12.

Wednesday's win was the first time in 60 years that Holland beat Sweden at home.

The last home victory was on 9 June 1948 (1-0).

The last home game before Wednesday's was played on 27 April 1983 when Sweden won 3-0 in Utrecht.

In 1964 Oranje also lost 1-0 and in 1952 there was another 0-0.
