Van Basten: "It wasn't good"
Friday 07 November 2008
Ajax coach Marco van Basten concluded
after the 1-0 victory in the UEFA Cup over MSK Zilina
that his team had entertained the crowd: "It was
a close tie until the very last minute," he said
with a cynical smile.
"But we didn't play well in
the first half. The pace was to low and we made spaces
too small and that was easy to defend for them."
"That is why I put on Kennedy
Bakircioglü in the second half. We had some chances
then. But because we didn't score a second goal it was
close until the last minute. Still, it's a pity we were
unable to make the difference a bit easier. There is
still a lot to do."
Ajax won the game 1-0 by a first
half goal of Luis Suarez.
