Ajax qualified without playing

Ajax have qualified for the third
round of the UEFA Cup without playing as Hamburg beat
Slavia Prague which means that the Czechs can reach
a maximum of four points if they were to beat Ajax in
the last group
game, and that is not enough for third place in
group F.
Hamburg also qualified, as did
Aston Villa.
The team of Martin Jol beat Slavia
0-2 in Prague on Thursday by goals of the two Croats
in Jol's side Ivica Olic and Mladen Petric.
Aston Villa surprisingly lost at
home to MSK Zilina (1-2) yet that wasn't enough for
the Slovaks.
The game was their last in the
group and the four points they gained was not enough
for third place.
