Feyenoord: "Behavior of fans was
backward"
Friday 28 November 2008
General Director of Feyenoord Eric
Gudde has sharply condemned the behavior of part of
the Feyenoord fans on Thursday night during the game
away to Deportivo
la Coruña.
"That was ridiculous, backward
really. This is a bog blow to the club," Gudde
said after his team had gone down without chance (3-0).
During half-time and at the start
of the second half 'fans' of Feyenoord broke up chairs
and threw them over the edge of the stand on Spanish
fans below them.
Fortunately no one got hurt as
the Spanish fans were able to get to safety in time.
"Where do you get the idea
to start throwing chairs around?" Gudde said bewildered.
"That is so uncalled for.
I have come to understand that is was only a relatively
small group of some 10 to 15 people who were involved.
We've caught them all on tape and they can count on
a stadium ban and we shall try to take out the damages
on them. Perhaps we will even get the police in Holland
involved."
UEFA have not yet reacted on the
new trouble with Feyenoord fans, but there is a good
chance that Feyenoord get a serious penalty for the
misbehaving fans.
Two years ago Feyenoord were evicted
from the UEFA Cup when fans misbehaved in Nancy and
before there had been a long list of incidents with
so called fans of the Rotterdam club.
At the same time supporters of
Ajax caused trouble in downtown Hamburg on Thursday
afternoon, mainly in bars where they were awaiting the
game.
