Rijkaard: "Feyenoord needn't call
me"
Tuesday 20 January 2009
After Mario Been yesterday said
that he will finish the season at NEC, unemployed Frank
Rijkaard also rejected any possible offer from the Rotterdam
club.
Feyenoord fired their coach Gertjan
Verbeek a week ago and are looking for a caretaker for
the rest of the season and of course for a coach for
the longer term.
But before Feyenoord have made
any moves now the second possible candidate said Feyenoord
needn't bother calling him.
"No, my phone is switched
off," said the former coach of Barcelona and the
Dutch national team.
Other European clubs can also save
themselves the trouble Rijkaard said.
"It's not for nothing I took
a sabbatical. At the start of the season I said that
I shall not work for a year and I shall stick to that.
For the new season I might be open to a new job in football.
What and where I do not know, but I prefer a club over
a national team. But so far there have been no serious
plans or talks."
