Mark van Bommel: "We have the best forward line
in the world"
Tuesday 08 December 2009
Mark van Bommel sounded the praises
of the Dutch national football team yesterday.
The Bayern Munich-midfielder and
son-in-law of Holland boss Bert van Marwijk talks of
'world class football' during the qualification campaign
and called Holland's forward line "The best in
the world."
"Not even Brazil have such
a forward line," he said.
According to Van Bommel the clear
way in which the team play is one ofthe strong points
of the team.
"You can put another player
on any given position, but everyone knows what is expected
of him on that specific position. Of course every player
has his own qualities, but overall they will perform
the tasks that come with the position they play in.
I think we are very stable. In a few games we really
played world class football."
Van Bommel admits that the team's
biggest strengths are up front. "When everyone
performs his task we have players up front who can decide
any game. And the seven guys behind them must realize
they are working for those for in front of them. When
that works out well we have a world class team. I don't
see any other country with so much quality up front,
not even Brazil."
Van Bommel also paved the way for
a return of Edwin van der Sar for the World Cup finals:
"For me he is still the best goal keeper in the
world at the moment. Do you know a better one?"
