Both Holland and Spain play for 1st spot FIFA ranking
Sunday, 11 July 2010
Spain and the Netherlands are not
just competing to lift the World Cup on Sunday but also
to secure FIFA's number one spot in the world rankings.
Spain, who are presently ranked
second behind five-time champions Brazil, would assume
the world number one ranking if they win or draw - no
matter the outcome of the penalty shootout.
The Dutch, ranked fourth and who
have never been top of the rankings, would be classified
number one if they win the match without it going to
penalties.
